Not wanting to change the DCR is precisely the reason I wanted to use the original inductor. I knew I had homework to do and thought this would be a great place to start.
And no, I have yet to try a razor knife on the hot glue. I'm not quite ready to dissect the crossover to that degree yet. Everything's mounted on a circuit board, and I don't want to do any damage to the board until I have everything else ready to go for the external set-up. The razor knife is a good suggestion though, maybe along with some heat from a heat gun.
I did replace the electrolytic in series with the tweeter tonight. Put in a 5 mF 100 V MIT film cap I had a pair of. So far the results are good.
