Used a vacation day today.Rather than ssit at home with a menopausel hag screaming at me I drove in a small snow storm 2 hours to Elderly Instruments in Lansing. The roads were a bit slick and i got to watch in my rear view mirror in sorta slow motion this guy behind me use the middle passing lane totally lose it.His rear end started swerving and he ended up doing a 360 sitting in the other lanes shoulder.Weird shit to watch and he's damn lucky no one was coming from the other direction.I brought my Martin and put it on consignment.
One question first. Is it mandatory to be fucking weird looking to work in a music store??The guy that did the paper work on my Martin at the repair desk was covered in tatoos and his fugly face was covered with piercing and studs. The girl that took my nearly 200 clams was damn near as bad.She looks like all her paychecks have been going to the tattoo parlor. With her lip and eyelids having earing and studs. At least she had big titties and was not to bad looking.A little chubby and her boobies looked a bit saggy possibly indicating an unwed mother.Onto the music.
I scored a wretched POS that I knew I shouldn't have bought.
CDS:
Fillmore:The Last Days-By the sounds of the bands here I can see why it was the last days.Still kickin myself in the ass for buying this turd.
Gillian Welch:Time(The Revelator)-She looks like an ugly version of Olyve Oyl but i love her voice.Tom Paxton:Live At McCabes-Recorded Feb 23rd,1991 some of the topics are dated but Tom Paxton is quite the song writer AND entertainer. He reminds of the stage prescence of leo Kottke.I heard the song Billy Got Some Bad News Today and i had to hear this CD.It takes a LOT for a guy and an acoustic guitar to keep me entertained but this guy does it on this CD.Hows about a song called Yuppies In The Sky done to Nightriders In The Sky.Condos for sale/condos to goooooooo/Yuppies in the sky.Very much reccomended.
The Gayle Brothers:Left Hand Brand-I snatched this up quickly.Very muscular bluze rock.If ya like Bannamasso and that type of stuff ya gotta have this.
DVD
Rory Gallagher:Live At Montreaux-20.95 for two DVDs spanning 1975 to 1994.I have watched most of the first DVD which covers 1975,77,79 and 85.Here are some comments
I had forgotten that jeans came with back pocket flaps.
That the drummer in the 79 concert had shorts that were wayyyyy way to short. He looked more dressed for an evening at the Pink Pony Alternative Lifestyle Bar and Grill.Unsightly to say the least.
The 75 concert I see Rory starting out Tattoed Lady with some finger tapping on the guitar.
I have the 79 show on VHS tape.I bought it out of an ad in GoldMine magazine from someone in Europe in 1989.Remember those old days??reading mags and then ordering something that took weeks??The internet is a good thing.Picture quality was quite shitty on the tape but my what a show. And it's this show we see Rory coming into his own with more stage antics and showmanship.Speaking of tape quality. The first DVD is not 5:1.Just stereo. The pic quality is not up with the better concert DVDs.But if you are a RG fan it don't mean shit.
I saw Rory in his last US tour in 91 at the Key West club in Detroit.I know whats coming in the later years. At that last tour his playing was still superb.
I also bought two guitar instructional DVDs.101 Blues Guitar Essentials wit Doug MacLeod and the Guitar Of Elizebeth Cotton taught by John Miller. In my quest to become the worlds shittiest guitar player I have amassed quita a collection of instructional DVDs.I find the secret to being a shitty guitar player is to never actually watch these DVDs.I buy them with the best intentions but they lay stacked by the DVD player still unwrapped waiting me to become the next uhhhhh Rory Gallgher???Nahhhhh i don't look good in plaid.
This place has become a boring cesspool wit LWRtard and DaveCs man love contest.I wonder how LWRtard takes a dump with daves nose stuck in his ass.
Later you shut ins.
