I've got the Donnas album "Spend the Night". I think it's totally kick-ass. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure, though. My wife (who does have a good appreciation for tasty guitar-driven rock) rolls her eyes everytime I play a cut. Too bad for her.I dig this album because most of their songs have a great sense of propulsion. Their good pushing forward songs usually with a decent hook. Also, they often drop in some lyrics that really crack me up. Usually, the lines that I like use imagery that plays off their recent history as a bunch of teen girls. One of their songs starts off with this sweet couplet...
"Well I musta had too many diet cokes
Cause I'm laughing at all your stupid jokes"Yeah, most of the songs are on the typical classic rock topics: drinking, drugs, partying, sex ("Take Me To The Back Seat" is a great track). But, I don't have much problem with ploughing this old field because it makes for songs that are a lot of fun.
So, yeah, I think that "Spend the Night" is a really fun album. I haven't heard the others.
