Francescatti indeed!

His Beethoven VC with Bruno Walter is wonderful, my favorite.

I also like his Brahms VC with Bernstein, though the orchestra sounds rather harsh. But Francescatti seems to me to have done more with the work interpretatively than anyone else I have heard. He also did the Mendelssohn and Bruch No. 1 quite nicely, also the Sibelius. Then there are the French pieces, in which he had few if any peers.
