When I was a child, I experienced a violin piece by Pablo de Sarasate called "Zigeunerweisen"..... I recall this piece being so incredible and "perfectly played", yet afterwards, for the rest of my life, I never heard that performance or one that I think matched it. (Including Heifetz.)Well I think I found the performance.... And in brief listening to other works, I think Michael Rabin may be Jascha Heifetz' equal in virtuosity, yet doesn't sound "stiff".... This will make your hair stand on end.
I have no idea why this performer didn't get more notoriety.
