The main theme in the finale of the "Eroica" is borrowed from one of Mozart's German Dances (forget which one). Beethoven admired Mozart and was most familiar with his music, going so far as to write a cadanza for the D minor piano concerto Beethoven himself was known to perform before deafness made him abandon concertizing. However, great as the Mozart Eflat Symphony is, the Eroica is of a different era, one Beethoven created on his own.
