dmkerr2000@yahoo.com.I have a CDR copy from an old LP that I'd be happy to burn for you. The LP wasn't in the best condition but it's not bad. It'll give you a taste of the music and if you decide you like it enough to purchase a pristine copy, at least you won't be surprised at the results.
Funny you should mention Vesala because I brought his "Invisible Storm" to work to play today. Nan Madol is very much in the ECM mold but... and this is going to sound REALLY stupid, I know... but Vesala's music sounds more "Finnish" while Garbarek's is more "Norwegian". I TOLD you it would sound stupid! I guess the difference is that EV has a kind of tension amidst the density in his music. JG's is more freeflowing and calm. It's a little more "avant garde" - some large ensembles and the violin has a prominent place in some of the tunes. I find Nan Madol to be his best, although I haven't heard "Ode to the Death of Jazz" which is supposed to be equally fine. At any rate, the differences between EV and JG may seem subtle on the surface until you dive in deeper. It has a similar feel but there's a lot more of a "I'm sorta ok now but any minute I'm gonna bust out and scream" sense to EV's music.
