RE: Ahhhh the ambience!

I'm more into the Dark Ambient world of Lustmord, Lull, Ambre, and The Hafler Trio than Eno and the others you mentioned. However, the one thing they have in common is that you can listen to them either as background music or very carefully and really get into the subtleties that lie beneath the surface. It works either way.

My introduction into this music came from Morton Feldman's "Piano and String Quartet" (more minimalism than ambient) and then Nurse With Wound's "Salt Marie Celeste". Music collecting has always been fun for me but this has put a bounce in my musical step that hasn't been there for decades! Really exciting!
