On a related note to your comment about adding another 0 to the price. I've had a handful of tube preamps over the years that were warm-ish and very musically involving but it took a rather expensive tube preamp to additionally deliver on the bandwidth, dynamics, punch, and resolution. The best tube preamp I ever had was the Cary SLP-05 running a batch of 6SN7 tubes. It was pricey even well over a decade ago.The most incredibly lush experience I had was with the EAR 834P phono preamp. It infused so much warmth and richness into the music that even old poorly recorded rock albums weren't so bad. The downside was that I realized how much detail I was giving up. It was fun for a while but I returned to a phono preamp that wasn't so lush.
