Modding CD players these days is in most cases counterproductive. It takes a lot of investment and generally has very little benefit. The main sonic factors such as the DAC chip set and analog output design cannot be "modded". Years ago, there was no option but to pay a premium for a mediocre player and then a few years later, either you had to do it again or mod the player. The most popular option was then the outboard DAC. These days however, digital players have become much more sophisticated and listenable. It is best to move on to a new player if you are not happy with a particular player rather than to try and patch the old one. The Jolida is a very nice sounding player to most people's ears and is very well built. If you want something that is significantly better, I wouldn't bet on a few "magic" bullets, but simply buy a significantly better player.
