Re: Burning In Components

This will probably go WAY against what others here have experienced, but I not only find break-in VERY real, but also a proven phenom within my close circle of audio friends. I am currently breaking in a bunch of capacitors (Black Gate) which I have configured in the "super E cap" configuration in my transport, DAC, & preamplifier while operating all three on 24/7 for the past three weeks. I basically "check in" on the components every three or four days to see if there is any improvement (or degradation) in the sound, and can tell you that each day I either experience a better or worse sound depending upon where the components are in thier break in phase. You may think i'm nuts, but I assure you that this difference has absolutely nothing to do with "me" breaking in to the new components, (as others have implied) as I do not listen to my system during break in, just check in occasionally as descrbed above. Break in IS real and if you consider the stresses, new materials, crystal structures, and molecular alterisation of components during construction, you will consider the "bedding-in" of these components as a real component in the sound of your system. If you cannot hear your components break-in, then your system simply does not have the resolving power of a top-notch system.
