I thought I should add that I find that the heavy rock/metal albums (e.g. Powerslave) don't sound very good with the Tele 12au7 or the RCA 12bh7a. Some of them are just not listenable with these tubes. They sound way too bright and shallow. For these albums I swap to the Super Radiotron 12au7a tubes. These tubes dampen the high frequency noise and bring out the bass. These albums are musical again. These tubes also give me the best depth perception of any tube I have tried. These tubes make a significant difference. If I could only have one pair of tubes, these would be the ones I pick. They provide the best overall performance.I recall that you find your Cary on the warm side rather than the bright side. I have never had that issue. I wonder if it has anything to do with our rooms. Have you posted pictures of your room anywhere?
PS. I have ordered the Tele ECC802S. It will be interesting to see how they perform.
