I was hoping someone had compared the Tele ECC802S to the RCA 12bh7a. Then I would know if it is worthwhile trying the Teles given how much they cost.On the other hand I bought the Cary 303/300 based on the raves that oldvinyl, sherlock and some others (probably including you) made on this forum. I wasn't able to get 'in home' demos of any CDP I considered so I went with the Cary based on the raves and the fact that it is so feature packed. I didn't even hear it. I only saw a picture of it before I ordered it. Despite this I went ahead - I think this is one of the ugliest CD players I have ever come across. Neverthless I have had no regrets.
Getting back to the point. I do wonder if I should just buy the Teles based on the fact that both sherlock and oldvinyl have concluded that these are the best tubes for the CDP. It sounds like they are the best Lummy has heard as well.
