I think part of the problem may be a truly compliant (impedance) connector....
the cable itself is not the problem....
In Ham Radio? We deal with the right connectors to terminate cable.
SMA male and female are tiny.....and used on many handheld radios while the PL259 / SO239 are good to some high frequency....RG-8 coaxcable is good to 4 gig and is a 50 ohm cable.
BNC and others are out there, too. More than I can count. I have limited needs so keep only what I need for my handheld....
