A perceived forward presentation can bring on listener fatigue. I experienced this with silver plated copper wires a number of years back. I would recommend you contact the Cable Company and tell them what you are looking for sonically. They have a cable lending library and if you don't mind paying for shipping this can be a good route to go.
Auditioning in your own room and system is the best way to go IMO.
