Hi Kidz,
As I sit here analyzing my selection of cables | cords | electronics, knowing what I know today which I didn't coming into our shared passion back in 1978 while stationed in Japan, and throughout the 80s | 90s | earlier 2000s, as I've always taught our now grown children from the age of 3-7, the choices one makes in obtaining the proper education | degree will later on provide you ( them ) with a better means of providing for themselves | family in years to come, as each have gone on to do much better financially than my wife and I, I now have to turn this same sort mindset towards audio and cabling purchases.
Had I know about said Xangsane or Grey Knight cabling options say 4-5 years ago..., I've to assume my quest for said matters would've in fact started | ended there. The same has to be said of recent electronic purchases, my stated regrets is having purchased a Naim Audio SuperNait 3, instead of say the Heed Audio Lagrange Integrated amp, being as how much I'm currently enjoying the hell out of their little Obelisk Si lll, which offers what I hear as a similar sound of a Coda Technologies Unison 3 integrated amp I purchased back in 2016, which in fact was the exact amp which at the time caused me to move on from tube based integrated's..., as it seemingly sounded more tube than many of the tube based designs starting around 1995, where they began trying to hard to gain a sense of bandwidth | power which was associated with solid state type of presentation | lost me with the early makes from Audio Research | CAT | VTL, where at said time, I always preferred the signature of gear from both Cary Audio | Conrad-Johnson, this is the very opposite type of sound or better yet musicality said Obelisk Si lll brings to the table, it sounds to my ears | senses like a prefect blending of solid state wed to say a SET type of sound.
Hence wishing last year when a dealer was in fact trying his best to push me into purchasing the Lagrange for a mere $4.400, I passed, thinking if I was going to spend upwards of $5.700 on anybody's integrated amp, I'd definitely be said SN3, fast forward to just last month upon placing the Obelisk Si lll into the system, for the first time since purchasing it back in 2019, as my wife Michelle was cleaning out our bedroom closet | spotted it, yet within my usual 3-4 tracks, let's just say I'd literally kicked my own ass for passing on the Lagrange, knowing within this is the exact sound I've been searching for my entire life. If ever I've had one of those rare regrettable moments, it was then ( as it's now ) but then life is about each of us realizing what's our sound, and knowing even on a budget, one can take their time and get a feel for what brand of gear speaks to their core, as I've always felt if it doesn't engage me enough to cause me to listen for hours | cry behind a meaningful track | want to get up and dance or sing along with the track(s) and lacks an emotional response from me..., then said piece isn't for me.
The other component mistake made was buying the Denafrips Pontus ll in the black finish instead of silver | it's sad to know that if I even looked at this cheap ass black anodized chassis the wrong way, I saw smearing | smudges | dust build up | finger prints without coming into 3' of it, I even went through the trouble of asking Vincent from Vinshine Audio, to suggest to the actual makers of said DAC they might wish to include cloth or latex gloves in the packaging | as to my mind this is the one area where said Chinese based anodizing falls far behind | even a matter black type of chassis like on their entry level Aries ll | 12th is more preferable.
Maybe I'm being overly anal?, but said matters count on my end..., I've always purchased items based upon both their sense of musicality | as well as overall aesthetic, as I feel I do have to enjoy what's sitting in front of me, just as much as how it sounds.
Said Greg Knight GK-6008Ag power cord | Xangsane IC's | USB cables have each enhanced my system to the point where said realizations of life's choices have finally kicked in.
O'kay, that's my monthly ranting | so moving onto other matters of importance | here's again hoping that each of you take me seriously on said cables?, as the lone Grey Knight GK-6008Ag ( also sold as the Xangsane P-6008Ag ) especially when the stock power plugs are replaced with whichever brand of rhodium plated copper AC Male | copper IEC Female connectors which fit your budget?, have been swapped out. This type of shit only needs to be once, and done as far as I'm concerned.
Life's too short to continue settling | especially at these type of prices.
Live Long | Prosper..., yet I'm a diehard Trekkie | that shall remain until the Creator calls me home for that final dirt nap. It's only logical, says Mr. Spock.
