After Nos having purchased 10 of these cables ( both Odin 2 | Odin Gold ) and sold off their Odin 2 Silver power cord, as it was merely to heavy on my prior DAC, which was a Denafrips Ares ll, whereas now with the much heavier Denafrips Pontus ll, I've to assume not said weight issues would've been a problem.
The more and more I've listened to the Odin Gold power cord | USB Cable ( since about 11:37am ) and awaiting the incoming Gold IC's, before week's end | I don't think it's a matter of them being toned-down, in so much as offering a more textural | velvety presentation, as to merely add a sense of tonality and beauty to the notes, bringing about what I often refer to as a more " human element " to the sound..., where I hear as totally opposite of the old adage " transporting one into the actual recording venue ", as opposed to presenting a living, breathing human being into our living space, more of a " they're here " moment, the sense of focus and clarity which Tomasz has pointed out, has an extra sense of realism to which once again, I've to say can bettered..., yet at what cost?.
This has once again " for me " become one of those lasting moments where I've found myself not worrying about looking at buying any other brand of cable, as to my experience it's once again the cabling loom, including power cords, which makes or breaks the system, at my age, I can no longer be swayed by mere Hi-Fi effects, and now base my findings upon how emotional engaged I become, if listening to a sad song..., do I find myself crying in front of my wife?, why of course I do, and she says it's one of the things she has always loved about me, " caring less what others think or feel about me, and being honest enough to speak the truth, no matter now raw it was " in the end, I've come to believe that's why many men die before women, because some tend to hold shit in, and it wears on their health, while on the other hand I'd get a rats ass less what my siblings | children | friends think, I'm just not that sensitive, to where I'm going into our bathroom, run a tub of water, and slit my wrist..., it just isn't going to happen | like in finding one's way in our shared passion for this hobby, shouldn't all of us after the age of say 35, know what we're listening for?, and too?, enough to know if we're moved or not?.
Yes..., cables like ones taste in tubes, or cartridge bodies ( metal or wooden ) all are in fact a means of tone control, which I refer to as voicing, one merely has to grain enough experience to understand synergy above all else, and stop trying to mix this and that brand with one another, as it merely changing the sonic presentation as was designed to be heard as is, not a mixture of this or that sonic signature, which in very very very few occasions matches tonally.
Buy the best system one can afford, and merely address the issues of AC Receptacles | Power Cords | cabling once said items are up to your satisfaction, and ride that shit out, until something breaks, which ideally one should've backups already in place, to simply remove said broken item and within a few minutes, have the system back up and running.
Yet we all have to voice our system(s) according to our own biases, and not our loved ones | friends | neighbors, but in said rare case be selfish, and please oneself.
Truth hurts, but so be it. One life, live it.
