RE: Another Vote for the Chinese "Odin 2" Interconnect

Mel,

I'm right there with you my friend. I also have the original Chinese copies of the --$78 delivered to my door-- "Odin II Silver ICs!" These amazing Chinese ICs easily bested my $3.2K NBS Professional ICs! In fact, I immediately installed these "Odin II Silver ICs" in my system, replacing the spot my NBS Professional ICs previously held. Over the days as I continued listening to the "Odin II Silver ICs" I couldn't help but wonder if the "Odin II Silver ICs" sounded this good how good would the "Odin II Gold ICs" sound in my system?

Well, a short 3 weeks later, last Saturday (7/30) the $60 dollar "Odin II Gold ICs" were delivered to my door --yes that's correct they were actually even less expensive than the "Odin II Silver ICs!"-- Well I immediately installed the "Odin II Gold ICs" in place of the "Odin II Silver ICs" in my system and after 6 hours of playing Prog-rock loudly yesterday and 4 hours of Smooth Jazz today I can definitely say IMHO the "Odin II Gold ICs!" are the much better sounding IC!

Granted the "Odin II Gold ICs" is not quite as extended on the top end as the "Odin II Silver" is, but they do everything else better and they are extended enough on the top end for me. I honestly couldn't be happier with a pair of ICs and I just simply cannot believe they can sell them delivered to my door at this price! This is what a pair of the old cheap Radio Shack "they're better than nothing" ICs used to cost me when I was in my 20s and I'm 68 now. I guess it goes to show just how much cable companies have been jacking the price of wires.

Now for those who are thinking "Well that's well and good, but what's the quality of the system he used when he was judging the quality of these wires? That's truly a fair question so I posted a photo of my system above for all to see. But for those who don't know from looking, my system consists of:

1) YBA Genesis CD4 CDP (used strictly as a transport)
2) Musical Paradise MP-D2 DAC (modified to use four 6N8S tubes instead of 6922)
3) Don Sachs "Custom" preamp (four 6SN7 tubes and one 6BYS rectifier tube)
4) Mastersound Reference 845, 40W/ch, SET amp (using two 12AU7, two 6900, and four 845 tubes)
5) Reference 3A Taksim speakers ( 8" wide-band driver connected directly to the amp, and a single cap run to the pure Beryllium dome tweeter.)

And if you've looked at the photo close enough perhaps you've noticed --besides the Harman Kardon 16 amp on the floor-- I'm also running the Chinese "Valhalla II speaker wires" as well!
