I noticed with my Ayre power amp, a Pangea 9SE power cable brought out more bass, and when I plugged it into an isolation transformer it tightened up even more. I went to t a more expensive power cable to try and it made it worse. The rest of the system was almost a "doesn't matter" with power cords.

I am not saying that the Pangea was a silver bullet, it just provided something that was beneficial (shielding? Who knows!)

So I think for sure quality of power, and being EMI free can make a difference. But this also didn't reveal itself until I had some pretty good sources, too.
