Some people don't hear changes, period unless they are massive like speakers or amps etc. I belong to a small club that hears the grass shimmer in the breeze.
When you say 'good quality shielded cable' please expand. I own a €16 1mtr shielded cable and many €95 per metre cables with an astonishing level of difference between them. What are your IEC and wall plug terminations made of? Each makes a difference.
I've spent a large amount recently on power upgrades myself. I found putting the amp through a conditioner degraded the sound. Furman are more the domain of recording studio than audiophile electronics too.
Many have commented and it's widely reviewed that OCC copper is sonically better than OFC. The sheer number of grain boundaries in OFC HAS to lend itself to signal degradation bs OCC (continuous cast).
If you have any funds left, buy 1mtr of Oyaide Tunami 2 SSC copper cable, Viborg copper/silver IEC and power plug. Wire the drain wire properly (socket side) and come back after you've tested for a month. I would nearly put money on you hearing a difference.
Oh, plug the amp back into the wall socket too. Change the amp cable too. Old fat audioquests might be out dated at this stage. The Oyaides have opened quite a few eyes for those who replaced $3-5000 reference cables with them.
