I've inserted tail rather sheepishly between legs. I took the opportunity to reposition my speakers towards the rear wall and 2 things happened. The 1st was obvious- less glare but the 2nd took me by surprise- bigger sound stage.

I would have always assumed the opposite.

OT I know, but rule of thumb on speaker placement? I have floor standers a little over 3 feet in height in a 12ft x 24ft (ish) room. Currently positioned 2ft from the side walls and nearly 4ft from the back wall.

I'm wanting more width in the sound stage but worried about moving them any close to the wall for introducing boomy bass.
