FWIW, I can't tell you how many times that I've blamed the wrong component when trying to track down what I perceived as a less-than-desirable characteristic in my setup. I'd give it more time, but it's entirely possible that the cables are just showing you what something else sounds like. I had a Monarchy NM24 dac and hated it. The guy that bought it loves it, so go figure.
