Re: recommendation for "smooth" sounding DIY speaker cable

You could go to the WalMart auto department and buy however many 50 foot spools of 14 ga Royal Cable you need for $12.34 per spool. It is a rope-laid, high purity copper cable with a vinyl jacket that looks a lot like Monster Cable or RS Megacable.

I, too, had noticed a certain hardness with my DIY Cat 5 cables and was experiencing listener fatigue. It's gone and the subtle details are still there, without that etched quality. The WAF of this cable is much higher than Cat 5 or those hideous HD extension cords.

I used RS Gold spades. If you don't like it you are not out much money or effort.
