'Whataboutism' doesn't work with me

BTW, there were no French settlement in Canada in 1534 which was date of Jacques Cartier's first voyage to the St. Laurence River region.

To their disgrace, the British expelled French Acadians from what are three maritime provinces today. This was done for "security" reasons, (sound familiar?), during the French & Indian Wars, a.k.a. The Seven Years War.

OTOH, when the British conquered Quebec there were no expulsions of the French inhabitants who retained their property, Church and social institutions, and code of civil law.
