...I'm agin' our Ukraine policy as well. Not because of any phony border crisis but because of the basic immorality of using another country as a proxy and giving it just enough to ensure years of stalemate because... why? Because it's what we always do? I mean, remember the Iran-Iraq War? We played both sides to keep that thing going as long as possible even though children were being used to clear mine fields. And folks wonder why the Iranians don't trust us.
If saving Ukraine is really vital to the survival of democracy, then why the half measures? Why not sell it to the American public and ask for some real sacrifices beyond those "We Stand with Ukraine" flags that are all faded now anyway?
If the goal is just to weaken Russia and our foreign policy establishment is willing to sacrifice Ukraine's cities and population for some nebulous Kissingeresque realpolitik goal, then that's a big "nuh-uh" from me.
If Trump actually follows through and ends US involvement--a big "if"--then good for him.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
