Trying to help someone identify this tube pre-amp.
I have never seen a configuration like this among the well known classics. It appears to be older but has some semi-modern parts in it (coupling caps
could have been replaced though). I thought perhaps it could be a custom or kit- bash but it appears to have too many manufactured aspects that indicate it's a production piece. No face plate- darn!
From the images that were sent, it also looks like one set of windings leads on the PT have been cut off, and one tube is missing - not a good sign. He says the tubes present are 12au7's they are all 9 pin but he has no idea if they are in the right spot or if they are the correct tube. The unit powers up but cannot get any sound.
I'm trying to see if he can trace where it came from or any history but no luck so far.
any help, or guesses even? -It remains a mystery...
