RE: thrift store finds

Be carefull on the R2R. I had always lusted for a Revox B77 in my younger, broke, days. I found one that was affordable and looked great. Unfortunatly everything played theough it sounded like there was a wool blanket over the speakers. Worn heads on old tape machines is common. I also think its overpriced. I think you can find a better deal on US Audio Mart, or HIFI Shark. I try to avoid Ebay. Lots of audio, but a lot not worth buying.
