It's been too long since I used my HK730. I prefer the Yamaha over the Marantz. The Marantz seems too polite and slightly veiled. The Yamaha may be a touch bright, but my ears are a touch dark. The Yamaha is my favorite. It has good detail and fine, clear, bass. Nothing seems exaggerated. The Yamaha clearly shows up bad recordings and brings out the good ones as well.
I have removed the Yamaha, replaced it with the Marantz, and then reinstalled the Yamaha all in one day. The differences were readily apparent.
