Re: Ever tried critical listening outdoors?

I've always been amazed too. I set a pair on our deck, about 12' apart and about 12" from the back wall of the house. Out in the yard, I'd sit about 40 feet away. The speakers at this point are above my ears by about 8'...so everything is flowing over me. Works wonders for me. Oh...the speakers on the desk were a pair of Dynaco A-25. It sounded like I had speakers that were 4x larger belting out the tunes. Even at a distance of 80 feet out, with some more volume applied, they sounded nice. By the end of the day, we were permanently sitting at that 80' distance.

Arguements ensued as to who would be going up to the house for more beers. That didn't last long....out came the cooler by the chairs. OK, who's going to go get the Zig-Zags? Damn it! Down to the basement I go.
