Before you get rid of the tuner & preamp, follow power wiring to On-Off switch; it may be that the power amp section cannot be powered on without connections to the preamp. Of course you can wire around that, but the original set-up is useful for *instructions* as to how. I like & use tone controls for room adjustment today just as yesterday & am listening to Jazz at Lincoln Center on PBS, preceeded by Jazz on the River Walk, so I cannot fathom why you would get rid of them. Oh, well.
