I highly recommend the lower-priced Ortofon MCs

I use an X-3 (now OOP), but there are still some floating around (as well as the X-1), and of course the new versions are readily available, but spendier

I also really like the Stanton 681EEE - to be honest, though, you can (should!) download the manual from VinylEngine.com and see the list of carts for which AR provided specs, shims needed, etc., and use that as a starting point - another great choice is the Shure M91ED (also vintage, so the stylus condition may be an issue)
