Re: AR XA

I have an XA and I disagree with almost everything said so far. The M97xe (which I have on a Grace 707) and the AT 440 are far to sophisticated for that primitive, heavy arm. You want something with a stiff compliance and a conical stylus (and elliptical will work too but nothing more radical than that). If you want to go to a better cartridge, you should swap the arm out. The Grace 707 is an easy drop in and would be a good choice. I have seen older versions of the Grado Black work. Sometimes you get hum and sometimes you don't. It's part of the Grado mystery.
