Home Vintage Asylum

Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

One of Joe Rosen's favorites (actually two of them)

I have about $900 in a VM 1448 and over $1000 in a Sherwood S-5500 IV. The Sherwood sounds very good, but one channel sometimes stops working for a while.

The Voice of Music 1448 was worked on by Norman's Electronics of Atlanta, Vintage Amplifier Restoration, Otho of Audio Alternative and David Ziolkowski of VM Electronics of Michigan and it still hums and buzzes like a hive of bees. The saddest thing of all is that it was NOS from an old store in upstate NY, and it was working better when I first got it than it does today. No hum at all!

This is what I get for listening to a subjectivist tube lover. I'm sticking to transistors for serious purposes.
