Baseball's Future On AM Radio

Baseball's playoffs arrive with autumn. For nearly a century, they've been a staple on AM radio. But with that medium in apparent decline, Associated Press baseball writer Mike Fitzpatrick ponders its' amplitude modulated future. Here in Sactown, only receivable evening broadcasts are San Francisco Giants via KNBR 680 Khz San Francisco; Colorado Rockies via KOA 850 Khz Denver; & Seattle Mariners via KXTG 750 Khz Portland. Oaktown A's KNEW flag-ship 960 Khz signal fades away at dusk. Bakersfield's KNZR 1560 Khz quit carrying parent Los Angeles Dodgers when their minor league club folded. Nationally, E.S.P.N. carries baseball playoff coverage. Hopefully, night-time west-coast listeners will be accommodated via San Diego's XETRA Mighty 1090 Khz affiliate. ... 73s para Sactown
