I said it before, I'll say it again- Today's popular music does not inspire people to reproduce it with superior fidelity. And most recordings of such music would sound merely "different" on a good system, as opposed to sounding "better."(Of all the people who listened to my main system, the one who was the least-impressed happened to be a rap fanatic.)
The music environment today is totally different than it was 30 years ago.... The only way to get one interested in audio is to first get him/her interested in music that *does* inspire reproducing it with superior fidelity. Easier said than done.
