Although I haven't tried that circuit, I'm guessing that you could probably get away with altering the values except that all of those values are direct coupled. You'd probably do better raising the power supply a bit. Then you would be able to use a 68K resistor, a 330 ohm resistor and maybe 20K resistors. Personally, I would say try it and see if you like the circuit to drive the 300B. If you don't, then start paralleling and series connecting to the original values. However, to answer your original question, you have to use multiple resistors when the circuit requires it and the sound doesn't deteriorate from using multiple resistors.
