Yes I did match the 170's myself. The MAT02 can be used and is recommended by Allen Wright as an improvement on the fets.I would strongly recommend you buy the cookbook as it has invaluable advice on matching (which is quite easy, although you do need to buy quite a few to get a good match) and also a full chapter on the supereg. I have used superegs on an AudioNote pre-amp with good results.
As far as my PSU goes, I'm toying with the idea of valve rectified, choke input, with supereg for each channel of course!
