Should we be considering valve amps and speakers as a system rather than separate boxes ?

Hi ,
I'm just wondering about interactive affects of output impedence of zero-feedback valve amps and speakers and to what extent the speaker damping is affected by an amplifier . I have been through various books and there is little information on the subject , the Firstwatt site has been the most useful reference so far . I've been playing with series resistors and find that too large a value can cause peaking (and of course a loss of sensitivity) , ditto replacing a 0.2ohm ferrite with a 1.5 ohm air cored inductor in the crossover for instance . I'm thinking that perhaps EBS alignments maybe the way to go for bass reflex speakers and zero-feedback valves (larger box , fatter/longer vent) . Hardly wife-friendly but is this a correct assumption to make ? I'm thinking aloud here but this is an issue which has been bugging me for a while , without access to suitable measuring equipment I'm scratching my head and starting to lose sleep . I have TAD 4001 with Lecleach 320Hz horns , just need to partner them correctly to a bass driver and I only have the cash for one attempt you see . Your thoughts please :)

cheers
