And so I swapped the CD player and the amplifier. It was quite fun to hear the 'old' solid state amp back in again. Not bad really, but somewhat flat and closed sound compared to the Amity. More important, the sibilence (?) did not change much. So that leaves me the following list of unchanged components:1. recordings
2. speakers/crossover/cable
3. meSince I can't do much about 1 and 3, and presuming it can be helped at all, my next focus should probably be the crossover. Not something I'm looking forward to, tweaking a three way crossover by ear.
I visited Clarisonus and it looks promising. 15-20 years ago when HAM was still fun, we had countless hours of discussions and sharing ideas, from the real to the rediculous. Kind of hope it will turn out to be a place like that.
