It doesn't matter how the filament is constructed. In a push-pull output stage, any AC filament hum is automatically cancelled in the output transformer.I have used a number of directly heated tubes (2A3, 6B4, 100TL, 4-250A, 3-500Z, 3-1000A, etc.) in a push-pull output stage, and I never used hum-balance controls. The filament transformers enter tap was either grounded, or used self-bias.
I suggest you save yourself a lot of expense and use the center tap, and it makes no difference in sound.
