This thing has been discussed enough times, but I just re-converted it back to 6B4G after having it not quite stock with EL34s for about a month. It seems to be working OK, and the only problems I've found were maybe a cold solder joint on the driver board connections, one 6B4G where an internal ring had broken off, which TubeDepot replaced without any problem and very fast, and uneven driver tubes. My impression of this still holds. Very deep, fast bass, smooth mid range without the congestion that I hear with the EL34. I found I couldn't fully enjoy it with the EL34, which surprised me because I thought it sounded so good before.
I still have mods to do. PIO caps, per Michael Samra, a separate filament transformer for the driver tubes, which I should do but I don't know where I'd put another tranny. Maybe lower value grid resistors, I'm using 470k, others have said to go lower. Maybe better/different coupling caps in place of the .47uf orange drops. Maybe an Aikido pre-amp, still the best combo I've heard.
