24db can be found on the net as the db above average for transients.
If 1 watt is needed for average listening levels then 256 watts will be needed to keep the amp from clipping on transients. I don't know of any amps that put out 256 clean watts that I would like to listen to as much as my 300b amps. (The numbers might be wrong. The point is, more power than most of us have is needed to keep music from clipping our power amps. Most of us are clipping our power amps.)Steve, I guess I agree with you, a grid choke that makes my amp clip in a nicer way is just the right "band-aid" for me.
