My first tube amp project (20 years ago...) was based on this design but since I didn't have much money at that time (student...) there were part susbtitutions done. I used Hammond 1650R opts, Triad power transformer (400 - 0 - 400 V @ 200ma, 5V@3A, 6.3vct @ 4A) and ss rectification, no chokes. Used 2 1000uf@350V computer grade electrolytics connected in series with 470k parallel resistors to equalize voltages across the caps and rc filtering for the input tubes. Tubes were chinese KT88s(didn't last long) and Sylvania 6SN7 GTs. The KT88s were replaced with GE 6550As which lasted much longer.
To my ears at that time they were the greatest sounding amps and all of my friends were impressed.
