FWIW I've got 3 suggestions.

1. From what you say it seems that the circuit ground and earth ground are not connected in any way. If you do a search I'm sure you'll find several recommendations from ying-yang diodes to some resistance with a bypass cap to a dead short. As a test I'd suggest you connect the circuit ground and earth ground with a 100 ohm resistor and see what happens.

2. More of a question. By saying that the star ground is to the first filter capacitor, do you really mean the one closest to the the rectifier? If so, try moving it to the last cap closest to the power amp circuit for each side and then go to the first cap.

3. IMO 240K is too high for the input impedance. FWIW I've somewhat settled on 47K you may want to parallel the 240K with a 47K just to see if you like it.
