If the signal that is fed back contains harmonics, then the amp happily creates higher harmonics from them. We hope they will be at too low a level to be objectionable, but they may not be, especially because of the increased risk of intermodulation with a complex signal (as most music signals are).Perhaps this is why triodes with NFB can sound worse than without it? The triode's simple harmonic spectrum - mostly 2nd with a lesser amount of 3rd, becomes more complex with NFB,
