The purpose of global feedback is because of 0 volt crossover
non-linearities in the output stage (ie UL or pentode outputs)
not to correct any imperfections in the output transformer.
Also to lower output impedance - to drive those really
obnoxious speakers and get nearer to SS bass performance.
When in class AB or B the 0 volt crossover is horrendous
and needs to be corrected or masked by the global NFB.
The answer is to use tubes in triode class A and
then NFB can be thrown away without consequence
(except higher output impedance).
Sound is so much better in class A triode -
clearer and more detailed in the low level signals.
