Paully,The 6X4 in your custom FP starts SLOWLY. The only thing I can think of that's causing trouble is LARGE inrush current in a DC heater supply.
You can slow the heater supply down a little with a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor. The thermistor heats due to I^2R losses in its resistance. As the thermistor heats, its resistance drops and a point of equilibrium is reached. I've linked the Mouser catalog page for this sort of stuff. You should be able to select a suitable part.
