Likeliest culprits are light dimmers. TVs and computers are suspects, too. These devices produce spikes following at the mains frequency. Line-contaminating devices may be not your own, but your neighbour's. AC powered directly heated filament tubes are especially vulnerable to this type of interference.If you cannot block it at the source, good power conditioner should help.
