Well thanks, everybody. I decided to go with a 1650N Hammond. This is a 4300 primary 60 watt unit. It is inexpensive enough to build the amp, try it out, and if I then wish, sell off the Hammond and go upscale. I chose the 60-Watt over the 100 watt in the hope that the smaller unit will have better HF response than the larger unit.
