Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

Reminds of the Poinz 6V6 Musical Machine... kinda sorta....

I'm not sure... Dont know about all those funky USSR tubes. :)
For one, I'd bet the sensitivity of this amp is way, way low given
the UL mode of the output stage. Why are there 100 ohm screen resistors but no grid stoppers ?

I'd say for the cost of building this amp, why not go for a 10-12W
triode design with the same 8K transformers and maybe alittle higher B+, say 430V. In that case, a PP pair of KT66 (Saratov / Groove Tubes) wired
in triode, cathode biased with a resistor... Use the bias balance circuit in the Heathkit W-5M schematic, this will let you perfectly bias the output stage so there is no DC imbalance in the transformer. Move the CCS to the differential pair..

Uhoh.... It's starting to look kinda like a modern implementation of a Williamson. :)
